NHVR Law Updates – Effective June

From June, new and updated regulations introduced by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) will impact transport operators across Australia. These changes are designed to improve safety, accountability, and compliance within the heavy vehicle industry.

At Goulburn Transport, we are fully prepared for these updates and are committed to staying ahead of all regulatory requirements.

  • Stronger Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Enforcement – All parties in the supply chain, including consignors, operators, and schedulers, must actively manage and reduce safety risks

  • Increased Focus on Fatigue Management – Tighter monitoring of driver work and rest hours to reduce fatigue-related incidents

  • Load Restraint & Mass Compliance – Greater scrutiny on correct load securing, weight limits, and vehicle compliance

  • Vehicle Standards & Maintenance – Enhanced expectations around regular inspections, roadworthiness, and maintenance records

  • Use of Technology & Monitoring – Increased adoption of electronic work diaries (EWDs) and tracking systems to ensure compliance

  • Higher Penalties for Non-Compliance – Significant fines and legal consequences for businesses and individuals who fail to meet obligations

Goulburn Transport has already implemented systems and procedures to align with these changes, ensuring every job is completed safely, legally, and efficiently.

By staying compliant with NHVR regulations, we provide our customers with confidence that their freight is handled by a responsible and professional transport provider.
